WASTE LANDS BOARD.
At the usual sitting of the Land Board held at Dunedin on Wednesday the 19th instant, the following business of local interest was transacted :
Mr Warden Stratford reported upon the application of Mr C. C. Boyes to purchase 2500 acres on Run 345, Kawarau, stating that there was no objection, provided due notice was given by advertising. The Board agreed to order the application to be advertised,
The District Land Officer, Clyde, forwarded an application by the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to purchase section 1, blk. I, Ophir. This section had been set apart as a reserve for public library purposes, and the Library Committee wrote that they agreed to the Bank having the section, as the Athenaeum was intended to be built on section 2. The section having been Crowngranted to the Superintendent in t ust for the Library Committee, the Board had no power to deal with it, and the application was refused.
The followingapplications for gold-mining leases were approved Edward Tupker and others, section 2, block If, Bannockburn ; H. J Cope, section 24, block XII, Skipper’s Creek.
Notice of the Board’s intention to grant the following mineral leases was ordered to be advertised John Short, section 0, bk. 1, Bannockburn ; Edward M'Nulty and W. Mutter, section 21, block I, Cromwell.
