DUNSTAN GUN CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Dnnstan District Gun Club was held at Cromwell on Monday last, the 24th instant, and which brought a goodly number of members and visitors from various parts of the County, and considerable interest was evinced as the several matches went on. Prises to the value of close on L4O were provided, bo it may he judged that the competition to secure a place was keen and well contested. The chief event was the Cup Handicap (10 birds) for which eleven members entered. The first prise (valued at 17 guineas) was secured by Mr Tudor Mackay, the second by Mr S. M. Dalgliesh, and the third hy Mr John Stronach. Birds being plentiful (close on 300 being available) a series of sweepstake handicap matches were also got up on Tuesday. In the first (five birds) Mr A. Mackay carried off best prize, and M r Dignan second A three bird consolation closed the meeting, the result lying between Messrs Adair and Turton. Partridges running short, these gentlemen divided the prize. The sport attracted a considerable number of people, and altogether the meeting was voted a very pleasant one. We are informed that at a meeting of the Club afterwards held four new members were proposed and elected
