AIDS TO PROSPECTING FOR GOLD OR OTHER PRECIOUS MINERALS.
The following are the conditions upon which grants in aid of prospecting will be given by Government ; 1. Five thousand pounds (L 5000) will be given to associations or local bodies in aid ot prospecting for gold or other precious minerals, nr in construction of prospecting tracks cut solely for the purposes of such prospecting, by way • : subsidy, cent, per cent, upon a wage const eruhly below the market value of labour paid per head on the number of men actually employed. 2 No more than r.wo bundled pounds (L 200) shall he granted to any one local association or local body for any one prospecting expedition. 3. No sum shall he paid in excess of such sum as maybe calculated upon a wage of live shillings per day on the number of men actually engaged in any prospecting party.
4. Tho association or local body nhall he required to prove to the satisfaction of tho Minister for Lands, or his appointee, the time during which prospecting was carried on, and the number of men from time to time employed.
5. No prospecting to he allowed on Native land, without tho consent of the Native owners previously obtained, and the approval of the Native Minister. Prospectors going on Native land without consent of tho owners are liable to the penalties imposed by the acts relating to goldfields, and will forfeit all claim to reward.
