The Visiting Committee reported that comolaints had reached them from the patients as to the quality of the butter ; also, that the Wardsman complained of his salary being in arrear. It was explained that the beat butter to be obtained was supplied the Institution, and an opinion was expressed that it was not so much the sick as the well who complained. Mr Oliver said, on his speaking to the Wardsman on the subject, he was told that much worse butter had often been supplied. Complaints of this nalme it was thought should come through the Resident Surgeon, who, by ihe rules, bad the right of complaining direct to the Contractor, and if after notice, a better article was not snp2>liod, his duty was then to report to the Committee. Regarding the Wardsman’s Sahiry being in arrear, the Treasurer stated that Mr Russell had not applied fo- payment, when he might have been paid some ; yet, at the present rime ir, would be of no use to apply as there was no money to pay with.
