ALEXANDRA CRICKET CLUB.
—o—- ■ The entertainment in connection with the above came off as advertised in the Town Hall, Alexandra on Friday, 14th Februaiy. We were glad to see so many present, as the whole entertainment was a great success from first to last, there not being anything to mar the evenmg’e enjoyment. The singing throughout was excellent, every song being well rendered, ani mostly all s-cmiug encores. The singers were Wesdames AKlred aud Carte, and Messrs Rees, Ald fed, Sams, Williams, Sephens, and Austin. Where all did so well, it would he unfair to particularize names. We cannot however, refrain from mentioning the excellent style in which the duet, “ What are ; the \\ ild V\ aves saying ” was rendered by , Mrs Aldred aud Mr Austin. Miss Odell I gave a pianoforte solo in excellent style, as * did also Mr Rees, the reading “ How the Favourite was reaten.” Mr Williams gave as a recitation, “ Clarence’s Dream,” in a manner which showed him to be quite at home at such wo. k, and in response to an encore gave “ The Quality of Mercy.” After the Concert the membei-s of the Alexandra Dramatic Club'appeared in the Laughable Farce entitled “ Cuuuht by the Cuff.”, Tips was quite on a par with the rest of the entertainment, the members seeming quite at home in their several parts. Mr Telford, as Beat, “ a Policeman XlOl ■’ wit-hied the staff in right go d style, aud seemed as if born 41 for the Force. Mr Stephens, as Cuff (another Po'iceman) war ready to come at duty’s call, aa.l abiy supported his comrade. Mg Sams, as Butt, a Commercial Traveller, ns usual, quite at home in his part.
