The aggregate fees payable for driving cattle to any pound shall not exceed Ten Shillings per day for each man, or One Pound per day for each man and horse employed thereat; and such fees if levied by any officer of the County Council shall be the property of the said Council. A.--Poundkeeper to be furnished with copies oj County Register. Every Poundkecper within the County shall be furnished by the Clerk of the County Council with copies of the entries made from time to time in the County Register of Cattle legally depastured in any Depasturing District therein under the Regulations made in that behalf, and such Poundkeeper shall record the same in a book to be kept by him for that purpose. s.— Bye-lato to be posted. Every poundkeeper shall post and at all times maintain in some conspicuous part of the Pound a copy of this Byelaw for public inspection, and shall produce the same to any person when called upon so to do. 6— A Register to be kept. Every Poundkeeper shall keep a book wherein he shall enter a description of all cattle impounded in such Pound, specifying the colour, marks, brands, sex, and apparent age of such cattle, the date at which, and the name and residence of the person by whom such cattle were impounded, the date at which, and the name and residence of the person by whom such cattle were claimed and released, the amount of Poundage fees, charges for food and for Notices and Driving fees levied and paid thereon; and, the name and residence of the person (if any) to whom any of such monies have been paid ; .And in respect of cattle sold by such Poundkeeper he shall also enter in such book the amount realized therefor, and the name and residence of the purchaser ; And a certified copy of every such entry shall be sent to the Clerk of the County Council on the first day of each mouth. 7 . Proceeds of Sale how to be applied. When the ownerof any impounded cattle or his Agent is unknown, the residue or balance derived from the sale thereof, under the provisions of the “Otago Impounding Ordinance, 1872.” shall be paid by the Poundkeeper to the County Treasurer in trust, for the person entitled thereto, and the receipt of the said Treasurer shall be a legal discharge to the said Poundkeeper for the amount named therein. 8. — Penalty for misconduct of Pouvdkeepers. If any poundkeeper shall omit or neglect to properly feed or water any animal impounded at the Pound whereof he shall have charge, or shall wound, injure, or maltreat any such animal, or if he shall be guilty of drunkenness, or of using abusive language, or of extorting or receiving money iu excess of the fees legally payable under this Bye-law, he shall on conviction be liable to a penally not exceeding twenty pounds for every such offence. JYE• LA W. NO. 5. Regulating the use oE Slaughter-Houses. I.— lnterpretation. The word “ Slaughter-house " shall moan and include the House, Buildings, Yards, and Premises in respect of which any License may be granted under this Bye-law ; the words “ great cattle ” shall mean horned or neat cattle, and tie words “ small cattle ” shall mean and include sheep, goats, and swine.

2. — Slaughter-houses at present in use to be Begis teed. Every place winch at the time of the passing of tliis Rye-Law is lawfully in me as a Slaughter-house within the Yincent County shall within one month after the coming into operation of this Bye-law he registered at the office of the Yincent County Council ; and on application to the Clerk of the Council he shall register erery such Slaughter-hotisc in a book to be kept for that purpose. 3. —Buildings or Premises to he licensed.

No Imiltling or premises witliin the Vincent County shall he used ns a place for the slaughtering of cattle not the property of the owner or occupier of the building nr premises Unless the same be licensed as hereinafter mentioned ; nor shall any building or premises unless so licensed be used for the slaughtering of cattle the property of the owner or occupier .after notice has been served upon such owner or occupier or left for him on such premises requiting such owner to discontinue such user or to lake out a License under this Bye-law for such building and premises. 4. —Application for License. The owner or occupier of any premises may apply to the Vincent County Council for a License to use the same as a Slaughter-house, and such application shall be in writing in the form set forth in the First Schedule hereto and shall be made to the Clerk of the County Council. 5. —Form of License.

Every License granted under this Bye-law shall be in (be form set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, and shall be signed by the Chairman for the time being of the Vincent Comity Council. G. —License Fees. Licenses may be granted hereunder for the slaughtering of: great cattle only, or for the slaughtering of small cattle only, ! or for both ; and the annual fees payable in respect thereof shall be as follows ; For great cattle ; Two Pounds. For small cattle; Two Pounds. For great and small cattle ; Four Pounds. But if any such license shall be issued after the 30th day of
