CDYDE SCHOOL.
—o The following report was made to tho Education Board by Mr D. Petrie after his examination on the 14th March last. The teaching has been vigorous and well directed, and the instruction is very well advanced and greatly above the average. Reading :—Very good. Poetry Repeated very accurately, and with just taste arid emphasis. Comprehension :—Good. Spelling :—Good. Writing ; —Fair. In tho higher classes a more rapid Tunning mercantile hand should be aimed at. Arithmetic : —Very good, with p-inci-p’es well understood. Mental addition would repay increased attention. Grammar :—Somewhat below standard iu classes 2 and 3, but very good in upper ones. Analysis :—Excellent. Geography : Very fair. Sewing :—Moderate to fair. Movements, discipline aud tone Gool. The progress register has not been filled up to date. The lower department has been well managed by the Mistres*. D. PETRIE, M.A., Inspector. Education Office, March 16, 1877.
