ALEXANDRA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

—0 An ordinary meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday last, April 11th Present, the Mayor, and Councillors Cameron, Mackcrsey and Theyers. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and confirmed. A letter was received from .fohn Allen, asking the Council for their sanction to his application for a Residence Area within the Municipality. The application was granted, and the Town Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Allen to that effect. Mr Hasted! presented a petition, signed by a large number of the ratepayers, requesting the Council to take the necessary steps with the County Council to cause a bridge to be erected over the Mauuherikia river. The Clerk was directed to reply to the petition, staling that the Council will give it (heir favorable consideration as early as possible. : The Mayor and Councillors Cameron arid Thevers were appointed to wait upon Mr Pees, of Galloway Station, to confer with him in reference to Ihe bridge. '1 he Town Cle;k was instructed to write ti the Hon Mr M'Lnan, asking him to curse the fines inflicted in the Court at Alexandra, to he handed over to the Corporation Moved by Councillor Theyers, and seconded by Councillor Mackcrsey, and carried—That the rate fOr the current year, ending March 31, 1878 he fixed at one shilling in the pound. The Town Clerk was requested to write to the Aceiimitisafion Society, asking for a donation of some of the larks they are distributing. Accounts to the amount of L 7 Ila wore passed for payment. The meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the Chair.
