ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Town Council was heM on Wednesday last, the ISnh inst. A fn'l meeting of the Council was present. The Mayor said that he had called the Council together in consequence of receiving a summons from Mr T. Brown for the amount of his contract for pitching the water channel in TarbeVt and Foyncs streets, and he (the Mayor) desired to have the opinion of the Council on the matter. He had also received a petition from a number of the ratepayers requesting him to call a public meeting to take into consideration the advisability of building a Town Hall, He had acceded to the request and advertised the meeting to take place on the 21st instant.
Cr Simtnonds, as a member of the Works Committee, was requested to take the necessary steps to defend the case of T. Brown v. Alexandra Corporation.
The Town Clerk was instructed to write to the General Government, requesting them to carry out the vote of the Provincial Bovernmont re the Waikala Bush mad. He was also requested to apnly to the Superintendent for the trust of the cemetery to be invested in the Town Council.
