ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Town Council was hel l on Wednesday evening last. Present The Mayor in the Chair, and Councillors Mnckersio and Theyers. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed A letter was read from Mr J. C. Chapplo asking permission to cut a channel from the water-race into his garden, which was granted. A notice was received from the lessees of the Corporation Race, informing the Council that they intend to continue the Lease for the ensuing twelve months according to agreement. It was resolved that the sum of three pounds he voted to Messrs .Stewart and Eames for supplying the Town with water during the time occupied in cleaning the Corpora Hon race. Tlie Town Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Moore, Inspector of Police, requesting him to cause a constable to bo stationed at Alexandra as soon as possible.'

Accounts to tho amount of L 36 19 5 were passed for payment. A vote of thanks to tho Chair concluded tho meeting.
