CONCERT.

The Amateur Concert given in the Town Hall, Clyde, on Wednesday evening last, in aid of the District School funds, was a most unqualified success, at one time their being not less than two hundred persons in the Too much credit cannot be. given the Committee who undertook the management- not alone for the very excellent programme, but for the zeal they displayed to render the evening an agreeable one; and, that they gained the desired result, was evidenced by the' unanimous ‘ expressions of pleasure and satisfaction to be heard from every quarter. Of the, performances, both' musical and vocal, to convey a really correct idea, is to say that with one exception (the Cai andmis) we have never heard better in Clyde, and we feel assured in this we convey the sentiments of tha audience. The programme consisted of twenty-eight pieces-, and as to nearly every one there was an encore, ami to enter into detail of each Would occupy more space than we can in this issue afford, we will suffice by merely enumerating the performers, and by expressing the hope that on many another occasion we may have tho extreme satisfaction of listening to them, and that other of our local institutions may benefit by their exertions. The accompaniment to the songs was on the piano, and by Mrs Stevens, Miss Murphy, and Messrs Stevens, Gordon, and Loughiian. The singers wore Mrs Stock, Misses Hastie and M'Millan, and Messrs Rees, Loughiian, Stevens, Hill, and M'Cnnnochie. The readers were, the Rev. Mr Dewe, and Mr Oliver. The Brass Band giving some of their first class selections during tho evening, also, at the dance which took place after the concert. Tho exact amount realised by the sale of tickets we have not heard, but we understand it to lie somewhat about 1.25.
