CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

—o — Tho usual fortnightly meeting of tho Council was held in tho Council Chambers, on Wednesday evening last, tho 28th inst. Present—B. Naylor, Esq., Mayor ; and Cra Beck, Hueston, Wolsford, and Hazlott. The minutes of previous mooting wore read and confirmed. Tho outward correspondence was read and approved. A notice of action for cancellation of Mr Holt’s water license by Messrs Hastio, M'Nally, and Co., was laid on the table. A duplicate agreement from the Bank of New South Wales, respecting Corporation’s loan of LSOOO, as received, was laid on tho table. Accounts amounting to L 35 Gs were passed for payment. The Mayor referred to tho exertions mado for tho well-being of the town by Cr Hazlett from his seat in tho Provincial Couucil. Other members of the Council speaking in the same strain, a vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Hazlett, M.P.C., and ordered to be recorded in the minutes of the Council. The Town Clerk here tendered his resignation, stating, however,'that he was willing to hold the office till the appointment o r his successor. The resignation was accepted, and instructions were issued to advertise for applications for the office. Salary, LSO per annum. (See advertisement.) The extra amount of laboi whieh had devolved on the Town Clerk in connection with the Bridge, the signing of the debentures, &e., was "now. considered, eventuating in a vote of L 5 to that officer. The thanks of the Council were ordered to be recorded in favor of B. Naylor, Esq., Mayor, for the time devoted and attention paid by him in the matter of the bridge, signing of debentures, &c. M’Nally and party’s letter applying to rent the Corporation's right of water from the Wia Keri Keri Creek, standing over from last meeting, was now brought up, and after consideration the application was refused. Mr Holt’s letter, also held over from lari meeting and referring to former application, was read. Tho Mayor and Cr Welaford were deputed to arrange with Mr Holt for the protection of the Corpo-ation’s right. A vote of thanks to the Mayor concluded the meeting. [We have to thank the Town Clerk for the substance of the above, having been unavoidably absent from the meeting.]
