Two hundred ami i-uu.c u beasts were destroyed in Burmah alone during 187.1-4. 1.257 was paid for the destruction of these animals, which consistel of 41 tigers, 30 enhs, 33 leopards ami 4 cubs, 13 hears and 8 cubs, and 83 alligator", which cost the Government thirty-eight shillings a head, exclusive of the alligators. Tobacco is likely to he dear very soon. There has been a light crop in America owingto the drought during the past season, and the price of the raw material hsa tdtea ly been considerably increased.
