ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Council was held on Wednesday,.October the Mth instant.

Present, the Mayor, and Councillors Finlay, Reresford and Theyors. The minutes of the last two meetings were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved. The inward received consisting of a letter from the Alexandra School Committee requesting the Council to till up the hollow places in front of the School where the water lodges. Councillor Beresford moved,—That the Works’ Committee be authorise.! to expend £2 in filling up the said places with gravel. Gamed.

From Mr Hazlett in reference to the grant of money for the Ferry Hoad. Ihe Town Clerk was instructed to acknowledge the receipt of the same, and express the thanks of the Council to Mr HazDtt forhis kindness in urging upon tho Government the necessity of the grant. Moved by Councillor Finlay, seconded by Councillor Theyers and carried That the sum of L2OO be payed off the overdraft with the Bank of New Zealand.

Moved by Councillor Theyers, seconded by Councillor Beresford and carried, —That the mining plant belonging to the Council be advertised for sate. -V •

Resolved, —That applications for assessors be called for, fee, two guineis each. The Salary of Inspector of nuisances w-s passed for payment. The Council then adjourned after the usual vote of thanks to the Chair.
