DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the Committee room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday evening, the Ist inst. James Hazlett, Esq., President, in the chair. There were also present Messrs. Naylor, Auckland Holt, Cambridge, Stevens (Acting Treasurer), and O. Facho (Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read, received, and adopted. The Visiting Committee’s report, No. 1, was read and received, lleport No. 2, recommending the payment of accounts to the amount of 1C8(. Os Cd., was 'read and adopted. The Treasurer’s report, as follows, was read and adopted ; liFCKIPTS.
£99 10 2 The Treasurer stated that since he had balanced the banks and prepared the above statement he had received subsidy for last quart: r, 33/. 3s. 2d. ; a cheque for Ti/. 165., from the Treasurer to the Crom. well bocal Committee, including 41/. 35., tire amount subscribed at Cardrona ; and a cheque from Mr. Mdliunis for 21/, 11s,, the amount collected by ,'binx in Butcher’s and Conroy’s Cullies, and the locality of Spear-grass and.Bald-hill Flats. He said had he been able to take into consideration these amounts the statement would have been much more favorable than it was. It appeared the liabilities were 237/. Is. od.. whereas they were’only 53/. (is. od. The Surgeon’s report, as follows, was read and received : Patients admitted during the month 8 • Discharged ... ... ... 3 Died .. ... ... 0 Patients remaining in Hospital... II Daily average attendance .. 0 Out-door patients attended ... 7 Number of attei dances on same 12 The report embodied a recommendation that the in-door patient, Peter M’Dongall, he sent to Dunedin, his case being essentially chronic. Preparatory to issuing instructions to the Secretary to acknowledge [receipt of the various amounts a discussion ensued as to what form the acknowledgment to Mr. G. Shrimpton seould take. 11 was ultimately resolved, That Mr. J. G. Shrimpton be enrolled as a life-subscriber, entitled to one in, two out, and two paying patients’ forms; that a vote of thanks be accorded him, and the tickets sent to him, accompanied by a letter conveying the thanks of the Committee for his liberal donation. Unsolved, That the Secretary he instructed to acknowledge receipt of cheques from Treasurer of Cromwell Local Committee and Mr. M. M'Ginnis, of Butcher’s Gully, and to write special letter to Mr. Pear ce, of Cardrona, thanking him and the Messrs. Austin, Brothers, for the assistance rendered by them in collecting so handsome a sum as that received from their district. Mr. J. U. Cambridge war elected a member of the Visiting Committee, vice Mr. Stevens, retiring, The meeting then adjourned until Monday evening next, the Stir instant, at eight o’clock, to consider applications for the office of cook, and to [receive tenders for supplies for the ensuing six months.
