The following notice of a small machine called “Gaboon's Patent American Broadcast Sower” appears in the Timarn and Gladstone Gazette “ The machine is mai'o in the shape of a hopper, the upper part of which is made of canvas, and the sower suspends it in front of him by means of a canvas strap, which is placed round the neck. A small handle on the right-iiand side is kept revolving slowly round, which causes the seed to escape at the lower end of the hopper into a round piece of metal shaped like a bell. This revolving, throws the seed broadcast. In front of the opening is a guaging slide, which regulates the amount of scad falling, according to the quantity required per acre. The larger the seed, the greater distance it can be thrown. Such a simple kind of machine will, doubtless, soon be brought into general favor, as, to all appearances, it is one cf the most useful inventions cf tie present day.”
