DUNSTAN DISTRICT MINERS’ ASSOCIATION.

ELECTION OF DELEGATE. ■ A meeting of the Comniittee was. held at Hawthorne’s Clyde Hotel on Saturday evening last, th» 23rd instant. ' ■■ . Mr. J. Hastis occupied the Chair, and stated the nliject of the meeting, viz.— The nomination oT a representative to attend the Conference of Delegates to bo held at Lawrence on December 2nd. A letter was read from the Secretary of Alexandra branch to the effect that Mr; T. Sims had been nominated, and enclosing his nomination. The Chairman stated that Mr J. Hazlctt had been requested to represent Dry bread. Mr. Graham was introduced as the representative of Blacks.' Mr. Jataes Alexander, Secretary of the As* soeiation was nominated' by the Clyde branch, . /. . Mr. Hazlett and Mr. Graham bolli said their engagements would not allow of them to attend the Conference, therefore they Withdrew—in attending, there object was merely to watch the proceedings and give their vote. The Chairman said the election th n was between Messrs. Sims and Alexander, and would suggest as the easiest mode of set' tltng the question, that one member from each branch decide it by ballot. After some discussion this course was decided on, and the ballot being taken, resulted iu the election of Mr. Alexander. A meeting of the Association was hereupon held. Air. Alexander returned thanks for the honor conferred upon him, and gave a slight resume of the course ho should take at the Conference. Several members offered suggestions, and the meeting dissolved in the,customary manner. ' In reply to a question, the Chairman of ! the Aasoc.atiou said the roll numbered ' CROMWELL- . 1 A meeting of the Cromwell District Asso--1 ciation was held on Saturday evening the 1 23rd instant in the*towri Hall, Cromwell, when an election for Delegate took’place. Two nominations were handed in, Mr. C. Colelongh, of Cromwell, and Mr. Crombie, of Bannockburn. Upon the ballot being | taken, Mr. Crombie was returned, the votes being, Crombie, TO ; Colclough, 2&. I Mr. John Miller was retorted m Delegate for the Arrow.
