ALEXANDRA SCHOOL.
On Thursday, the 21st inst., !\lr. Hislop, the Inspector of Schools, paid an official visit, and it is gratifying to say that the result of his examination gave unqualified satisfaction to himself and to all persons interested. In the course of his remarks, after six, hours' close examination, Mr Hislop said the proficiency shown by the pupils in all branches of education reflected the highest credit both on the leathers and the scholars. The attainments of the children were much above the average, and the discipline of the school was perfect. Had he known there was so much to bo shown he would have arranged to give two days to the examination. The school was not excelled by any he had visited, though he was glad to say it was equalled by some. Mr. Hislop congratulated the district in possessing the services of two such painstaking and praiseworthy teachers as Miss Fraser and Mr. Reid. The School Committee were nearly all present, and took a lively interest in the x .ruination.
