CLYDE SCHOOL
A Committee meeting was held at the ' School-house on Wednesday, August 22, at 4,--p.m. Present, Messrs. Rankin, M'Cpnnochie, Hazlett, Grindley, Christophers, (Clerk), . an4rAbridge,. w *p, > , 1 Tire minutes of the last meeting were re vl and confirmed. , ;; A letter froth the Education Office, dated July 27, enclosing cheque for £29 for repairs, and telegram from Mr. Stevens were read and received. 'pa AtAhe suggestion of the Schoolmaster, it Was resolved to apply to the Board for— Tabular Reading I essons, 1 dozen “Treatise on Arithmetic in Theory and Practice for the use of the Irish National Schools,” a Globe and a Register School. On the motion of Mr. Gr indley, seconded by Mr. M'Controchie, it was resolved, That prizes be awarded to the School children at the Christmas vacation, on the result of the next three months’ marks, and an oral examination, and that the Mas'eh ho requested to cause the marks to be kept. . ■Resolved, That the Brass Baud’s request for the use of the School-house twicea we k for practising be granted. That a door be placed between tire two bed- oom» at the Master’s residence, as requested by Mr. Sitvens. Messrs. Clark and Marshall, Inspectors of Works, reported that the new Schoolhouse was finished, with the exception of the outsides of the doors and windows, which they recommend shoul 1 lie coraideted with cement instead of with lime. The Clerk and the Chairman were empowered to carry out the suggestion, should they deem it advisable. The. Clerk reported'that Mr. Chappie, auctioneer,' had] sol 1 the School-house to Mr. John Cox for £53, and that £2O had been paid on account. The following accounts were passed fer payment J. C ChappKs account for Commission, selling school-house £2 13 0 R. C. Moore, bell ringing 5 0 T. Webb, cleaning and repairing Master’s residence 10 0 J. Holt, Lignite 1 2 6 J. U. Cambridge, repairing schoolhouse floor 26 £5 3 0 Ihe consideration of Mr. C->mbridge’g account for 1'412 12s. 6d. for building Fie new School-house was postponed until next, meeting, but the Clo-k was authorized to arrange with Mr. Cambridge respecting the balance due. It was resolved, That the kettle-drum and concert in aid of the Building Fund be held on Wedn-aday,. September 25, next, the Rev. : Mr. Jones be asked to take the Chair, and the Band of Hope to assist. Tickets to be 3s. 6d. each, children, half price., and that Messrs. Rankin, M’Conuochie, and Crindlfiv be appointed a sub committee to make all the necessary arrangements in connection with, the kettle-drum. t ftcr a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting adjourned.
