LUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The [usual monthly Keeling of tho Committee of management was held in the Committee room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday evening last, at 8, p.ra. Present—James Hazlett, Esq., President, in the Chair, ’ and .Messrs. Naylor, Marshall, Auckland, Beck, A. Christophers, Honorary Treasurer, and G. Faehe, Secretary. The minutes of tho previous monthly meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondenos was read, received, and adopted/ The visiting Committee’s report 'No. 1, to the'effect that the management of the institution was everything to be desired, was readjaud seconded. Report No. 2, recommending payment of accounts’ for Salaries, stores, and supplies* for the month, amounting to 67/. 7s. Id. was read and adopted. Unpaid accounts £375 4 S The Treasurer stated that since he had prepared his seport, he had received about 18/. from the Socretary,‘and others, which would appear in the next monthly account. The Surgeon’s report was read and adopted as follows Patients admitted during the month 8 Discharged g Died 1 . Remaining in Hospital 9 Average daily number of patients 7 Outdoor patients attended to 11 The report also contained recommendations for repairs, &c. The attention of the visiting committee was directed to the same, and they were authorised to have them carried out. Mr. Marshall said, the Resident Surgeon and others had spoken to him regarding setting aside a part of tho Hospital, as a lying-in ward. The Chairman said, doubtless such a ward would be a great boon to jmany, but he thought before any action was taken 1 ! in the matter, time should be given for thoroughly ventilating the subject, and he would suggest that the further consideration be left till the next meeting of the Committee. The further consideration was accordingly loft over till the next monthly meeting. The Secretary here read a letter from the Resident Surgeon, in which an increase of salary to 400/. per annum was asked for. Resolved, —That tho letter stand over till the next monthly meeting. Tenders for supplies, ic., for the quarter ending the 12th September, 1872, were opened and read, and the following accepted. Benjamin Naylor, provisions and medical comforts. Attfield and Welsford; meat. P. Calder ; meat. C. Holden’s tender for milk was referred to the Visiting committee, who were empowered to arrange for supplying the Institution. T. Webb’s tender for burials was accepted for the term ending the 13th of September, 1872. Mr. M. Marshall was elected a member of the visiting Committee, vice John Cox, retiring, A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
