CLYDE SCHOOL.
A meeting of the Committee was held at the School-house on Wednesday evening last. Present, Messrs. Newell, Marshall, Hnes f on, Hazlett, and A. Christophers (Clerk). Mr. Marshall in the Chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The foTowing letters were read and received, namely—E. 0. Moore, Secretary of the Band of Hope, asking for use of the School Room, on Friday evenings for sinking practice. From the Town Clerk, in reference to the use of the Library for girls' school, an 1 from the Library Committee, refusing the nse of the same. Resolved that the request of the Band of Hope be complied with, provided that the School and Master are not put to any inconvenience. The Clerk stated that. School foes to the amount of 20 1, were due, which if paid would enable the Committee to discharge part of the CO/, debt on the Master’s residence. It was resolved that the Master should demand an immediate settlement, an! in future demand weekly payments. Accounts to the amount of 51. 4s. were passed for payment. Resolved that Mr. Hueston and the Clerk he empowered to arrange with the Foresters’ Court fora renewal of the Committee's promissory note for CO/., due on the 11th instant. Resolved that 51. be voted for prizes, and that Mr. Marshall and the Master be requested to arrange for the purchase of suitable books. The Clerk reported that two tenders for three and four shillings per week respectively had/ been sent in for cleaning the Schoolroom, and that the for.-er, Mrs. Phinn’s, had been accepted. Resolved to postpone until the next meeting, the consideration of eight applications for the situation of female teacher. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting adjourned for a mouth.
