CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

—o— A special meeting was he'd in fhe Library Room on Wednesday evening last, the 15th inst. Present: J. Haz'ett, Esq., J.P., Mayor, and Councillors Patterson, Naylor, Clark, and Welsford. The Town Clerk laid on the table the assersment rate roll, as prepared by the Valuators, Messrs. Oliver and Stanbronk. Resolved, That the assessment for IS7I-2 be allowed. The Town Cle>k was instructed to give the requisite notice regarding the assessment. The water-rate assessment roll, as revised by the Finance Committee, was also laid on the table. Resolved, That the water-rate, as revised, bo allowed. After some conversation, the Town Clerk was requested to post up notice that the water-rate assessment roll may be inspected, and that all objections to the same must be lodged with the Town Clerk before the next usual meeting of the Council. The Auditors' report, statins that the statement of accounts prepared by the Town Clerk was found to be correct ; suggesting that an account be opened in the ledger in the name of each ratepayer; and further, to facilitate the collection of rates aud the auditing of accounts, that fresh rate receipt books be opened, was read and receive !. Resolved, That the Town Clerk be instructed to carry out the suegestions ns contained in the Auditors’ report. A letter from the Secretary of the Band of Hope, applying for the use of the Town Sail on the 15th of December next, for the purpose of a tea meeting, was read.
