DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

The adjourned monthly meeting of the Committee was held in the Council Chamber .on Monday evening last the 12th instant. Present, W. Fraser, Esq., Vice President, A. Christophers, Treasurer, and Messrs Grindley, Bock, Hazlett, Marshall, Rev. C. S, Boss, and 11. Barlow, Secretary. The minutes of the last monthly meeting and of meeting held on the sth instant, weie road and confirmed. The inward correspondence, consisting of letters from A. Christophers, Treasurer, relative to a certain resolution passed at a meeting of the Committee on the 11th Julywhereby he the Treasurer was instructed to change the account of the Institndou to the Bonk of New Zealand, from Mr. G. Pnrton, St. Bathan’s, and Mr John Pierce> in connection with the raising of funds, and from Messrs Fenwick and Matthews, requesting that the subscriptions from the Cromwell district be in future advertised in the local Newspaper. A relative to letter from Mr. Christophers, in which all present expressed their views, Mr. Fraser said, as proposer of the resolution refered to, would assure the Treasurer that no slight was offered him, he considered the action of the Bank of New South Wales in stopping the credit of a public Institution was harsh, and that the Bank was not .entitled to any consideration at the hands of the Committee. Mr. Hazlett said, he thought before any further action was taken by the Committee, they should ascertain on what footing the Bank of New South Wales would place them, he would like to hear the views of the Treasurer on the subject. Mr. Christophers said, he would suggest the appointment of a Committee to deal with the Bank relative to an overdraft. Resolved, —That the resolution refered to by Mr. Christophers be rescinded, and that a sub-committee be appointed with full authority to make such financial arrangements as may be necessary for carrying on the Institution. The outward correspondence was read and’adopted. Resolved, —That subscriptions received from the Cromwell district be in future advertised iu the local j ournal. The Visiting Committee’s report, No. 1. was read and received. Report, No. 2, recommending payment of the following accounts, amounting to £l2B 16s Bd—Salaries, £53 4s Bd, provisions, £47 7s lOd, medical comforts, ffi 8s fid, furnishing, ffi|lss Bd. seeds, £1 14s light, £4 2s 4s, sundries, £6 8s Bd, burials and coffins, £7 Iss was read and received. The Treasurer reported subscriptionsreceived for the month £lO4. I9s, Government subsidy, due, £425 11s 8-1, balance due, to the Rank £4(34 7s 1-1, The House Surgeon reported, patients remaining iu House 31st July, 8. Admited during the month, 12. Discharged, 6. Died, 2. Remaining in honso, 31st August 12. Daily average, 11 and two thirds, The patients admitted were, from Clyde, 2. Cromwell, 4. Alexandra, 3. Butcher’s 1. Black's, 1. Wakatip, 1. The following tenders for the ensuing quart-r were accepted—Bread, J . Hastie, 1s 31 per 4lb loaf. Meat, W. Grindley, 4d all round. General Stores. J. HazlettCoffins, C. Huenton. Burials, W. Wells. Resolved,—That a vote of thanks he accorded to Mr. W. Pyle of St. Bathan’s for his valuable assistance to the funds of the Institution by means of the entertainments given by hiralat Cromwell and Cly 'e, also to Mr. W. XT. Burke, Mr. Dalziel and Mr. Chin dice. Mr. Hazlett was re-elected member of the visiting Committee.
