DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.
The usual monthly me ting of the Committee was hold in the Council Chamber, Clyde, on Monday evening last. Present : Messrs. Beck (in the chair), Hazlett, Marshall, Naylor, Grindlcy, George. Christophers (Honorary Treasurer), and Milburn (Secretary). The minutes of the meeting held on the 7th nit. were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read, and received and adopted. A letter was received from William Pyle, Esq , containing the sum of £ll 125., being the amount realised at an entertainment given at St. Bathan’s for the benefit of the Hospital funds. Also letters, enclosing subscriptions, from Mr. H. C. Jones, Alexandra ; H. G. Glassford, Matakanui; J. A Prcshaw, Cromwell ; anil H. A. Stratford ''t. Bathan’s. The Visiting Committee’s report No. 1 was read and receive). The report included a complaint from one of the patients of insufficient attendance on the part of the Resi ’-ent Surgeon, and also of his having been absent on the 24th of February. Dr. Burrow's, who was present, rose and said that until the present moment he was not aware that any complaint had been made. With regard to the day named he would beg to explain that at 4 o’clock in the morn, ing be had been summoned to proceed w'ith his instruments to BeinVigo Gully, to assist Dr. Corse in au important operation ; but before leaving dye he had. written to Dr. Thomson, asking him to kindly keep in the way in case of any emergency occurring at the institution. The Surgeon’s explanation being considered satisfactory, the Committee decided that there was no ground for complaintThe Visiting Committee’s report No. 2, recommending the payment of accounts amounting to £I3S 14s. was read and received. | the following particulars were read and re- | ceivcd. Nutoher of patients remaining in Hospital Fob. I fifteen, admitted during the month seven, discharged during the same time eleven, remaining in Hospital, February £3 eleven, average; daily number twelve and a ninth. The patients were admitted from the following places—Clyde, 2; Alexandra, 2 ; Cromwell, 1 ; Drybread, 1 ; Bendigo, 1. The out patients ft ft let treatment numbered 9, of whom 7 are from Alexandra, and 2 from Clyde. Mr. M Marshall was elected by ballot, Member of the Visiting Committee, vice Mr. B. Naylor, retiring. Tenders for supplies were accepted from the following persons :J. Hazlett, for wines,, spirits, groceris, &c. ; \V. Grindley, meat; W. Atkins, coffins ; William Wells, burials. No tender for bread hiving been sent fn the Visiting Committee wore instructed to make arrangements for a supply. There being no other business, the usual vote of thanks to the chair was passed, and the Commmittee separated.
