CLYDE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A Committee meeting was held in the Library building on Tuesday evening last, the Bth instant. Present, Messrs Hazlett, (in the Ghair) Hueston, George, G. Fache, (Hon. Treasurer), and J. U. Cambridge, (Hon. Secretary’). The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The sub-committee appointed to have the room fitted up for the reception of books, newspapers and periodicals, reported that, they had carried out their instructions, and that the arrangements were perfected for the admission of subscribers, and suggested the appointment of a Librarian. The question as to number of particular evenings on which the Library should he open was gone into, and it was ultimately decided that the Library should he open to subscribers every evening from seven to ten p.m. Resolved, that Mr, Hueston and the Secretary he empowered to arrange for the permanent engagement of a Librarian. Resolved, that Mr. Hazlett and the Secretary he appointed Collectors, and bo requested to wait on the subscribers for their subscriptions. A discussion ensued as to the advisability of providing chess, drafts, dominoes, &c. for the use of members, it wasst length resolved that the Secretary be requested to provide the requisites for the above games. Resolved, that the Secretary obtain a stamp, hearing the words, (Clyde Public Library), for the purpose of marking books, &c. A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded tHo meeting.
