CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday the 2nd instant. Present, Councillors Hastie, in the Chair, Johnson, Hnestou, Clark, and Naylor. The minutes of the usu 1 meeting held on the sth January, and of special meetings held on the 7th and IDib were read and adopted.

The Town Clerk read the outward corre.sp ndence, which was adopted, afterwar s, the inward correspondence, as follows.—Letter from Mr. P Barlow, asking the Council to have the clock put in a dust proof case. Letter from Hr. J. Holt, lessee of the Clyde Coal Pit, asking the Council, if he reduced the price of coal to twenty shillings per ton, if they, the Council would recommend to the Government the extension of his Lease.

Proposed by C unciilor Hueston, seconded by Councillor Naylor,-That the letter of Mr. Holt stan I over till Mr. Holt furnishes the Council with the necessary inf.irmatiou regarding the present Lease. Carri el. Mr. Barlow’s letter was referred to the Public Works Committee. The following accounts, on the recommendation of the Finance Committee were

Proposed by Or. Huoston, seeondc 1 by Cr. Johnson, That a rate of Is. in the HI oil ihe assessment be allowed, and is hereby declared to he expedient for carrying out the requirements of tho Corporation for the current year, and that such rate he levied in accordance with the Municipal Ordinance. Carrie!.

Propose 1 by Councillor Naylor, seconded by Councillor Clark, —That the Council memorialise the Government, asking them to grant a roadway, half a chain wi le, at the, rea- of the township on either side of Sun lerlan I street. Carried.

With a vote of thauks to the Chair, the meeting dissolved.
