CLYDE TOWN COUNCIL.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was hold in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening last. Present : J Hazlett. Esq., Mayor, and Councillors Patterson, Johnson, Clark, Hueston, Naylor and Hastie.

, The minutes of previous ‘meeting were read and confirmed.

The inward and outward correspondence was rtad received and adopted. Councillors Naylor, Ilueston’ and Patterson were elected the Public Works (Join inittee, and Councillors Johnson, Clark and Hueston, the Finance Committee. Mr. Marshall was reappointed Town Clerk and Collector at a salary of £SO per, annum and 10 per cent on water rate collected. Sargeaut A. Thompson ',was reappointed Inspector of Nuisances at a salary of £lO per annum, and Inspector of Weights and Measures, without salary.

Rosolved that the fee of Auditors be £ I Is. each. Resolved that the Assessors be paid £2 10s. each, The Town Clerk was instructed to give seven clays notice in writing to all persons in arrear of rates, and at the expiration of that period to issue summonses against those parties not paid. Applications of Mr. Hawthorne and Mr. Holt were referred to Public Works Committee.

A vote of thinks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
