CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.

Tho usual fortnightly meeting of tin Council was held on the 10th insfc. Present: The Mayor an Councillors Burros, Kelly, anti Booth.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

A letter was read from Mr. Henry John Cope, making application for an allotment of ground, twenty feet, frontage, between Mr. Goodger’s premises an ' the Town-ball, for the purpose of carrying on the business of news and g noral agent. It was resol red, upon the motion of Councillor Booth, seconded by Councillor Barren, That Mr, C .pc niLht rent a piece of land, twenty feat frontage, ten feet away from the western si e of Council Chamber, instead of (ns asko for) on the east side, at a rental proportionate to what Mr. Goodger pays.

It was resolved, on the motion of Councillor Booth, seconded by Councillor Kelly, That the Mayer be paid £5 for his atten. dance at the District Court, Clyde, in the appeal case “Coimelhm and party v. the Corporation.” It was resolved, on the motion of Councillor Kelly, seeou 'ee by Councillor Booth, That the Mayor presi e in the Bridge Ward and. that Councillor Kelly preside in the Kawarau ; an that Councillor Bnrres preside in the Bridge War 1 and Councillor Booth in the Kawarau Ward at the election of Councillors ami Au itors.
