CROMWELL TOWN COUNCIL.

A Special Meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on the 3rd inst. Present : The Mayor, and Councillors Kelly, Burres, and Booth. The report of the District Engineer,'as to the best site for crossing the Kawarau River for the contemplated road to the Nevis, was read and received. It was resolved, upon the motion of Cr. Booth, seconded by Councillor Kelly, That the road to the Nevis be formed via Stuart’s Ferry. Resolved, upon the motion of Cr. Burres, seconded by Cr. Kelly, That the Town Clerk write to Mr. Stuart, requesting him to attend the next meeting of the Council, to be held on Monday, the 9th inst. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening last. Mr. Stuart attended (at the request of the Council), and gavs some information on the subject of tho approaches to and from the Kawarau River at his crossingplace. The meeting then adjourned.
