A discussion took place on al«tter reeeiv ed from the Town Clerk, Queenstown, intimating that the up country Municipalities were generally ia favor of sending two delegates from each place to Punedin to take into consideration the rubject of Erdcw inents &c. The discussion tem'ed to show that the Council were in favor of the scheme hut no deflate conclusion was come to. respecting the s' nding of delegates to the congress. ; the letter was ordered to lie over for further consideration. The Town Clerk was insti uctcd to reply to a letter from the " eeretary of lan 1 aud Works, advising, having forwarded Dans &c. of Townships per coach, and to state" that tho Plans had arrived in order The Town Clcik svl n ittcd to tho Conn cil the yearly audited statement of receipts and expenditure to 31st. December 1857. The statement was refcred to the Committee of Finance. Accounts to the amount of £7 lis 6d were passed for payment. Proposed by Councillor Rateiiffo an'l secombd by Councillor Biretford,— "That the Town Clerk instruct the Town Valuators to value several new tenements erected since the last valuation of tho Township.' •Carried.
