FRASER'S RIVER.

(From A CoRREsroxDEXT.)

February 10th It mny not be uninteresting to your numerous readers to have a few particulars <>f the doings in this locality. The weather for some time past has been most inauspicious, but I am hap. py to say a change for the better has taken place In consequence of the quantities of rain that have fallen, the river has been ui usually high, in fact, so high as to compel the few miners who were located hpre to prospect the Terraces, in which I have the satisfaction of informing you ihry have been most successful, having in Bo vera 1 instances discovered good payable ground. *The main terrace, that I would draw your especial attention to is over a mile in length, and in which the gold was struck by a party of Chinese, who, since they have been fairly at work, are earning about thirty shillings per day per man; to work their claim, this party have brought in a race of water from the Umhrella Creek A colored man and his mate, who have taken up a claim adjoining (he Chinamen, are doing very well, they having obtained 3oz. in five days : other pat-

ties*have*nlso taken up.claims, butuu til they have completed their races by which they intend sluicing die ground I can-give no account of their doings, ! but their prospects are very good.; as j the ground is very shallow, varying I from two to six'feet, arid being a good height over the liver, no expense is incurred in opening a claim. The gold Obtained is coarse and nuggetty, pieces from one to five pennyweights being th'o'average. There are several other terraces along the com so of the Eraser River that bear the same indications as the one proven to be payable. I have but little hesitation in saying that a Held has been opened, that wil 1 support a population of several hun' dreds for a long time, and I would advise any digger, who is not making a pile where he is, to come and give : the place atrial, and as water can be conducted on to the various terraces frm either the river or the numerous tributaries, I consider abetter opening for the miner-has not presented itself for a lo.ng time, I do nr>t imply that a perfect Eldorado has been discovered, but that a field on which goo:l wages can be earned is openfd, I must say 1 am certain of. There is a store in c'ose proximity, from which every ne" cessary can be obtained
