CLYDE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

The usual meeting of the Council was held On Tuesday evening last, at the Council Chamber, Sunderland-street. Present: Councillors Cambridge, Hazlett, M'Connochie, Shaw, Ryan, and Goodwin. Councillor Hazlett occupied the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. 1 mtrard correspondence, amounting to fourteen communications, was read and received, and the outward correspondence approved, with j the exception of a letter to his Honor the j Superintendent. A letter from Mr. Barlow, respecting a cross-ing-plaoe in Cheviot-street, over Holt's race, was ! referred to the Public Works Committee. A letter from the .Mayor, J. D. Feraud, Esq. ' tendering his resignation, was read, and ordered to stand over till the next fortnightly meeting. The Town Clerk was requested to communicate with Mr. Feraud, asking him to re-con. sider his determination of resigning. Proposed by Cr. M'Connochie, That the report brought- up by the Public Works C, ,mmitt( e respecting the estimates for the year ending the 31st of July. 18(58,. and the probable receipts and expenditure during the same period, be adopted. Seconded by Cr. Goodwin, and carried. Proposed by Cr. Cambridge, That the valuators proceed with their duties without delay, and that the Town Clerk communicate to them the wishes of the Town Council in that respect. Seconded by Cr. M'Connochie, and carried. •Accounts amounting to £0 were passed for payment. Proposed by Cr. Cambridge That, as so many ' complaints had been made by the occupiers of ' property on the wast sids of Sunderland-street, j ; respecting the kerbing stone being at too high a : level, the Public Works Committee be em- j i powered to arrange with the contractor for . lowering the same. Seconded by Mr. M'Connochie, and carried. ' Proposed by Cr. M'Connochie, That the selling price of the Bye Laws and Standing , Orders be Is. 6d. per copy. Seconded by Cr. | Goodwin, and carried. • Proposed by Cr. Cambridge, seconded by Cr ' M'Connochie, and carried, That the resigna. i cion of Cr. Goodwin as a member of the Finance i and Public Works Committees be accepted. Proposed by Cr. Cambridge, That Cr. Hazlett be appointed a member of the Public Works ! Committee, vice Cr. Goodwin, resigned. Seconded by Cr. Goodwin, and carried. i Proposed by Cr. M'Connochie, That Cr. Sbaw be appointed a member of the Finance Committee, in the room of Cr. Goodwin, resigned. Seconded by Cr. Cambridge, and ' carried. Cr. Cambridge gave notice that at the next meeting he would propose, That section 29 of block 23 being unoccupied, the same be used as a public right-of-way. i Cr.
