The Melbourne manager of the National and Agency Company of Now Zealand (limited) reports of tho_ local markets as follows:—Wheat, 3s od to 3s Gd, with rather more enquiry at reduced prices; malting barley, 4s to 4s 4d, with slightly improved tendency ; New Zealand oats, feeding sorts, sluggish at 3s -id t<3 3s rd ; milling ditto, dull, at 3s 7d to 3s Sc : New Zealand oats under bond, slow of &ale at is 9d to 2s lid.

The New Zealand Lund and Mortgage Agency Company held yesterday a highly successful sale of sheep from the Barnwood station. TLoro was a large attendance of buyers and others interested. Competition for erery lot was keen. Four, nix, and Btooth merino wethers in the wool brought 13s 7d ; full mouth do, shorn, 5s 2d; twotooth cross-bred, mixed sexes, shorn, os lid; two-tooth merinos, mixed sexes and four-tooth merino ewes, in the wool, Us; four and six-tooth cross-bred wethers and ewes in the wool, 17s; merino ewes, rax and ei"ht-looth and full mouth with lambs, in the wool, 13s 3d; cross-bred owes, iour and six-tooth, with lambs at foot, m the ■wool, 18s Bd. _
