Dunedin, This day.

Tho Episcopalian Synod opened its sittings this evening, when Bishop Neville delivered a lengthy address. He referred to need of a cathedral, and advocated that a parish church might bo devoted to the purpose, on certain Sundays, if only monthly. He only briefly referred to his reasons for waiving his intention of ceremonially degrading Mr Stanford, -who had resigned his license in order to practise the profession of law. Tho Bishop explained that he had found that there was a great conflict of opinion as to the wisdom of carrying out the step, and therefore, at the cost of some violence to his conscience, he had determined to let the matter rest.
