At a meeting yesterday of the unemployed, convened by the Mayor to test the statements as to tho number of unemployed 29 married men and 33 single men signed the list. The Mayor said the Council would do anything reasonable for the unemployed, but could only let work by contract. Dunedin, This day.
The Mayor having been interviewed by the tin employed telegraphed to the Minister for public Works, who has replied that work will be re-opened for the men at Mosgiel. The corporation has takeu on about a dozen.
