William Wallace, a seaman, 25 years of age, died about 1 a.m. yesterday in the hospital from injuries to his spine, caused by his falling from a tree when arranging a swing for the amusement of children attending theLyttelton Friendly Societies picnic iv the Heathoote Valley on the Anniversary Day, ISB2. The poor fellow has never had the use of his limbs since the date named," though he has occasionally been able to take an airing in a Bath chair. He was a native of Dundee, and had no relations in this colony. DuNEDitf, This day._ A telegram was received by the police yesterday from Waihemo, stating that a ploughman employed at the Pareora station was killed on Tuesday afternoon by the dray he was driving falling- on , him. He was on his way to Gladbrook, and in crossing a creek at.the Taieei Lakes station the accident happened. The man's name is not known by the police. [ ".
