May 21. Hanlan has accepted the challenge of Beach for a match for the championship of tho world, over the champion course, on tho Parramatta river. Htinlan is willing to TOW for a thousand a-side. On account ot the unemployed neglecting to accept the offer of work at G3 to 6s 6d per day, the Government have decided to discontinue measures for their relief. This excited the wrath of the men who met and passed some foolish resolutions on the subject. Mr V. W. Giblin, the manager of the Australian Joint Stock Bank, died on Friday. Mr Booth continues his temperance movement, and the police state that there has been a decrease in crimes since the commencement of the mission. A bill has been introduced for tho suppression of lotteries.
