FIJIAN NEWS.
Auckland, This day. The news brought by the Penguin from Fiji is not of much importance. A formal communication was received from tho Premier of New Zealand, acknowledging receipt of a petition, asking for assistance in the endeavors of the Fijians to get attached to the colony of New Zealand. Major Atkinson, m his reply, promised to lay the petition before his colleagues, and to further communicate with the representatives of the colonists of Fiji concerning the subject matter of the potitiou. The labor schooner Winifred has arrived at Suva. She brought Mr Coll and the boatswain of the Windward-ho, who were taken from that vessel—the one suffering from a bullet wound, and the other from a spear thrust. The Suva times says that James Gregg, well known in the colony as the manager for Messrs James M'Ewen and Co., has been appointed by that firm its representative in Australia and New Zealand.
