LEGALITY OF SALE OF TRIUMPH DISPUTED.
Auckland, This day. Captain Vine Hall, of Sydney, is engaged in making a searching investigation on 'behalf of the London underwriters into the circumstances attending the sale of the steamship Triumph, recently stranded at Tiritiri. It is stated that Mr Fraser, the purchaser of the Triumph, has received notice from the underwriters that the legality of the sale will be disputed. Messrs" Russell and Campboll have been acting as.the legal advisers in the matter. The probability is that if the evidence adduced, -vT-hen submitted to the underwriters, appears to justify them,in resisting tho claim for insurance they will do so, leaving the owners to suo for the amount and to settle the question of the sale as they please.
