APPOINTMENT OF BANKRUPTCY ASSIGNEES.

At a meeting of the Cabinet yesterday it was decided to recommend to his Excellency tho Governor the names of four gentlemen for appointment as official assignees under the new Bankruptcy Act. The' gentlemen are—for Auckland, Mr John Lawson, formerly connected with Messrs Brogden and Sons, aud for some time Commissioner for North Island RailAvays ; for AVellington, Mr C. Graham, at present Town Clerk"; for Christchurch, Mr C. E. Latter, a Avell-knoAvn resident; for Dunedin, Mr J. Ashcroft, until recently editor of the Otago Daily Times. The appointments AvilMje gazetted as soon as His Excellency has given his assent. The districts over "which each of the Official Assigness will administer is the fame as the Supremo Court districts.
