'Wellington, This day. At the sitting of the Court of Appeal yesterday the Chief Justice, Mr Justice
Richmond, and Mr Justice Gillies disposed of the case of Johnston v. Maitland and others. The appeal Avas from the decision given by Mr Justice AVilliams at Dunedin, dismissing a motion for a mandamus asked for against the respondents, the Chief Commissioner and members of the Otago AA'aste Lands Board, commanding them to issuo to tho appellant a pastoral license in the terms of section S5 of the Land Act. After considerable argument the motion Avas refused, Avith costs of appeal, £97.
