At a meeting of the creditors of Auguste Andre Baffin,"the absconder, yesterday, a stormy scene ensued, in which the chairman, "Mr Heather, and Messrs Napier, Coleman, and George figured. The billowing resolution was carried on the motion of Mr Coleman :—" That inasmuch as tho debtor Auguste Andre Baffin did not file his declaration of insolvency till after his absconding and subsequent arrest and commitment, and the attachment of tlic money he took with him, and as the debtor's, proceedings have resulted in increasing by from 20 to 2~> per cent, the liabilities upon the estate by the claims of his legal adviser, creditors cannot regard his pretended yoluntnry bankruptcy as intended to benefit his creditors, "but rather as an abuse of the bankruptcy laws."
