NAPIER MILK.
[To the editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir, —The enclosed was clipped from an English paper received by tho last mail, whereby it will be seen how milkmen in England are not allowed to do just as they like. I cannot help thinking that if the " proper person " Avere to bring some of our local dairymen to account for doing the same kind of thing that we should get mo -o value for our money in being supplied Avilh "milk," and not as at present " Avatcr and milk." Hoping tho matter may bo looked into,—l am, &c., Resident. Adulterated Milk.—At Brentford Petty Sessions on Saturday, August 18, Samuel Goddard, dairyman, Ealing, was charged with soiling milk adulterated with 18 per cent of added water. Defendant or his assistant was selling tho milk from a cart. Fined £3, or one month's imprisonment. Richard Wild, milk vendor, Isleworth, was charged with selling milk adulterated with 41 per cent of added Avatcr. The defendant: It was not adulterated to that extent when if left my place. I chastised the boy for it. Mr Hogarth, chairman, said it Avas one of the -worst cases thuy had had in this court. It was cruel that such stuff should bo sold to children and sick people. Fined £5, or one month. Tho money was paid in both cases. [This is tho first complaint avo have ever heard against tho quality of ni'lk supplied in Napier.—Ed. D.T.]
