DANGEROUS FOOTPATHS.

[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir,—l wish to call the attention of tho borough authorities to the dangerous footway bordering on Browning and HerscheH streets. Since Messrs Large and Towuloy's old premises have been removed a convenient pitfall that is a standing danger to foot passengers especially at night has been formed, as the ground formerly occupied by the said premises is several feet below the level of the road. A protecting fence ought at once to be erected before some accident occurs, and I imagine this would have been done at first if the borough bylaws were enforced. Hoping this will catch the eye of those responsible for this neglect. —I am, itc, Observer. Napier, 19th October, ISS3.
