NAUTICAL INQUIRY.

New Plymouth, This day. An enquiry has boon held at Waitara into the stranding of the ketch Falcon in the Waitara river. The result was that the stranding was caused by an error of judgment of the master of the steamer Hannah Mokau in attempting to tow the vessel out two hours after high water, and with a short chopping sea, and being therefore unable to make sufficient headway to properly steer his vessel and keep in the deepest water. The Bench were of opinion that the proper time of the tide to tow vessels in and out of rivers like the Waitara is the last quartcr-fiood.
