SHOP LIFTER ARRESTED.

Nelson, This day,

A man of very respectable appearance was cleverly captured by Constable Phail on on Saturday night in the act of robbing the till in a shop at the Pprt. Several shops suffered on Saturday, and a pipe and a pair of gold earrings' found oh the prisoner have been identified as part of the losses. The man gives the name of Charles M'lntosh, but several letters Averc found on' him addressed "J. A. Paul." Some were in answer to applications for situations. It is believed he came here on' Thursday from Auckland or Napier. He has been remanded till Friday.
