FURTHER PARTICULARS OF THE MURDER OF A CHINAMAN.
Dunedin, This day. The following further particulars arc to hand of the murder of Ah Chin, a Chinaman, near Tcviot. Deceased and the informant Wan Kie Avere in a cave on the bank of the Clutha river. They were smoking opium about 7 p.m. on the lGth inst. Wan Kie fell asleep and Avas aroused by the report of a gun, when deceased called "I am shot; lam dying." Footsteps Avero heard outside the cave, but the informant was afraid to go out for some time. On going out he saw no one. On the police visiting the scene, they found the deceased dead with a small shot wound on his right breast and head. The cave was not disturbed, and money and a watch were found on the deceased's person. No motive can be assigned for the murder. An inquest will be held on Saturday.
