THE NATIVE MEETING IN THE KING COUNTRY.
Auckland, This day. It is stated that the native meeting at Te Kuti has passed a resolution that Mr Bryce be allowed to go through the King country, but that he was not to be allowed to make a survey until they were quite clear about how their lands were to be dealt with. Tawhaio will soon be present at the nioetXII" , . Th,e Native Reserves Act, which M.r
Bryce passed last session, and which he was very anxious to bring into operation over the lands of the King country, was brought up, but the natives would have nothing to do with it, as they were afraid, if they give a piece to the Government to be dealt with, that Ministers Avould issue a proclamation tying up a large district, as they have done with the land between Rotorua and Waikato.
