New Plymouth, This day.

M. S. Daniels avus charged this morning at the Police Court Avith .setting fire to his house on AVcdncsday night at Davenport. It was stated that some furniture had been removed, and the police Avished to find Avhere it avus, as a larger quantity had been insured than avus found in the house Avhen the fire was extinguished. Air Purely asked tho Bench not to give the accused bail, as it might frustrate the police in getting the property were he at liberty, and bail Avas refused.
