DEPUTATION TO COLONIAL SECRETARY RE AUCTIONEER'S DISABILITIES UNDER LICENSING ACT.
AVellingtox, This day. A deputation representing the auctioneers of the city waited on the Colonial Secretary yesterday to call his attention to certain disabilities imposed upon them by tho Licensing Act, 1880. The Hon. T." Dick, inreply,"explained that the original bill did not, contain the word "auctioneer" in the clause called into question, but that the word had been added in its passage through the House. Last year there Avere certain amendments brought down, which, however, the Government could not get through. Those amendments included one to strike out the Avord "auctioneer" in the clause indicated. He promised to confer Avith the Minister of Justice on the hitter's return to AVcllington, and to let the deputation kuoAV the result-
